Kumeu and Riverhead are Auckland's winery wedding corridor. The vines look effortless in the photos; getting forty guests from their CBD and North Shore hotels to a rural reception - and safely home again at midnight - is the part that needs planning. A booked guest shuttle solves both ends of the day, and this short guide covers the decisions that matter.

Count heads before you count vehicles

Split the list into the people who move together (the bridal party, close family) and the wider guest list. One Toyota Hiace 12-seater van carries 11 passengers plus the driver with room for bags, which usually covers the bridal party in a single run. For smaller moves we also run a sedan (Toyota Prius, up to 3 passengers), an SUV (Toyota RAV4, up to 4) and a minivan (Toyota Vellfire, around 5). Two vans can shuttle a larger guest list in loops instead of parking half the fleet at the venue.

Map the running order first

A workable chain looks like this: hotel or home pick-up - ceremony - a photo stop on the way - reception at the winery - late return loops to the city and the North Shore. Agree the times in writing before the day, and tell your driver about anything unusual (a cake that needs a seat, a dress that needs rail space). Waiting between venues is normal at weddings - it should be priced into the quote up front rather than sprung on you afterwards.

Book early for summer dates

December to February fills first for weekend dates. Outside peak season, two to four weeks ahead is comfortable for a Saturday booking. Once your venue confirms the running order, lock the transport so guests can plan around it.

Child seats for family guests

Under New Zealand road rules, children under 7 must travel in an approved child restraint. Rear-facing infant seats, forward-facing seats, boosters and half-boosters are all available on request - include each child's age when you ask for a quote and the right seats come with the van at no fuss.

Get one fixed price for the day

We quote wedding work as one fixed price before the day - no meter, no surge, and stops and waiting agreed in advance. For vehicle options, scenarios and common questions, see our wedding transfers Auckland page. If you would rather talk it through, the same page has our Auckland wedding transport quote form and phone number.
